CAMPROS CP 3P review

Best for: Two adults plus gear, or a parent and kids, in mild weather

A simple 7 x 7 ft dome for mild weather; the PU 1000 mm fly, fiberglass poles and single door make it a fair-weather tent, not one for storms.

A freestanding two-pole dome with clips, a mesh roof, one large mesh door and three mesh windows, plus a gear loft and mesh pockets. The fly is 185T polyester rated PU 1000 mm, and CAMPROS says only that it stays dry in light rain. The floor is 84 x 84 in with 47 in of center height. At 6.83 lb with 8.5 mm fiberglass poles, it is a car-camping tent despite the backpacking name.

Good

  • 7 x 7 ft floor with 47 in center height: room for two adults and bags
  • Mesh roof, door and three windows for airflow on warm nights
  • Two-pole clip design that CAMPROS says two people pitch in about 5 minutes

Watch for

  • PU 1000 mm fly: CAMPROS only says it stays dry in light rain
  • One door, so everyone shares a single exit

Coleman Sundome 3P review

Best for: Two adults on a queen airbed, fair-weather car camping

Room for two adults on a queen airbed in a quick fiberglass dome; keep it to mild weather because the fly covers only the roof.

A 7 x 7 ft dome with a 4 ft 4 in center height, one door, two windows, a ground vent and an E-Port for a power cord. Coleman says it fits one queen airbed. The WeatherTec tub floor has welded corners and the frame is wind-tested to 35 mph, but the roof-only fly leaves the walls to shed rain on their own.

Good

  • 7 x 7 ft floor fits one queen airbed, per Coleman
  • Welded-corner tub floor; taped seams on the fly and tent body
  • E-Port for an extension cord

Watch for

  • Roof-only fly; the walls are exposed to wind-driven rain
  • One door and a 52 in peak: crouch to dress, climb over to get out
