CORE 4P review
Best for: Two adults and gear on fair-weather car-camping weekends
A plain 8 x 7 ft fiberglass dome with good headroom and room for one queen airbed; CORE says it is most comfortable for two, and the fabric is rated 1200 mm.
A traditional two-pole dome: fiberglass poles seat in ball-and-socket feet, over a 68D polyester body rated 1200 mm, a P.E. sheet floor, sealed seams and a taped rainfly. The 8 x 7 ft floor has 54 in of center height and fits one queen airbed; CORE rates it for 4 but calls 2 plus gear the comfortable load. Ground vents and a mesh ceiling move air. It weighs 10 lb and packs to 24 x 10 x 6 in.
Good
- 54 in center height and room for one queen airbed
- Ground vents plus a mesh ceiling to let warm air out
- Gear loft included; packs to 24 x 10 x 6 in
Watch for
- 1200 mm fabric and a P.E. sheet floor: low ratings for heavy rain
- One door for up to four people

Best for: Family or group camping in cold, windy, shoulder-season weather
A double-wall 4-season dome with two doors, two vestibules and a snow skirt for cold or windy trips; at 53 in tall you kneel inside, and it runs warm in summer.
Two aluminum poles make a freestanding double-wall dome with a 94.4 x 82.6 in floor and 53 in of inner height. The fly is 210T polyester rated PU 3000 mm, the floor is 210D Oxford rated PU 5000 mm, seams are taped, and a snow skirt runs around the base. Two doors with double zippers and two vestibules split the traffic. Packaged weight is 9.1 lb; GEERTOP publishes no packed size.
Good
- Two doors and two vestibules, so four campers are not all using one exit
- 210D Oxford floor rated PU 5000 mm, with taped seams
- Snow skirt and aluminum poles for cold, windy shoulder-season trips
Watch for
- 53 in inner height: kneel, don't stand, to dress
- The snow skirt that blocks drafts also cuts airflow on hot summer nights
