GEERTOP 2P 4-Season review

Best for: Two campers on cold, windy or shoulder-season trips

A two-door, two-vestibule 4-season dome with a snow skirt for cold or windy nights; at 6.9 lb it is not ultralight, and 55 in is too narrow for a queen airbed.

Two aluminum poles make a freestanding double-wall dome with an 82.6 x 55 in floor and 45 in of height. The 210T ripstop polyester fly is rated PU 3000 mm, the floor PU 5000 mm, seams are taped, and a snow skirt seals the base. Each side has a D-shaped door and a 24 in wide vestibule. GEERTOP lists 6.9 lb, and it packs to about 17 x 7 x 7 in.

Good

  • Two doors and two vestibules: no climbing over your tent mate
  • Snow skirt, taped seams and a PU 5000 mm floor for cold, wet ground
  • Aluminum poles; packs to about 17 x 7 x 7 in

Watch for

  • 6.9 lb is heavy for a two-person tent
  • 55 in floor width fits two pads, not a 60 in queen airbed

Night Cat 2P review

Best for: Two people who want a light tent with a real fly rating

A 4.4 lb double-wall tent with aluminum poles, two doors and two vestibules, and a 3000 mm fly; the floor is narrow at 55 in for two.

Two aluminum poles make a freestanding frame that Night Cat says one person pitches in about 3 minutes. Mesh inner walls and two ceiling vents cut condensation, and a full-coverage fly rated 3000 mm with taped seams goes over the top. The interior is 6.8 x 4.6 ft with 43 in of height, and two D-shaped doors each open onto a vestibule. Guylines come included, and it weighs 4.4 lb.

Good

  • Aluminum poles, double-wall build and a 3000 mm full-coverage fly
  • Two doors, each with its own vestibule
  • 4.4 lb, light enough to carry as well as car camp

Watch for

  • 55 in floor width is snug for two adults
  • 43 in of height: sitting room only
